Guard Dog

Divine Intervention can take many forms but I beleive that I had the experience of Divine Intervention when I visited friends who where also Horse Traders and, because of their location, had a Guard Dog on a chain with a rope run so he could guard the yard and living quarters.

When you visited you had to wait for some one familiar with the Dog to come out of the living quarters (or yard) and hold onto the lead while you made a mad dash from your car to the living quarters.

On this particular day there where quite a few people visiting and we were all instructed to go into the stable and look at some new horses that they had just acquired. Duly we all trooped out and the owner held onto the dog for us. As we neared the stable block, and the dog was barking madly at us, we became aware that he had stopped and was heading straight towards us as his chain had snapped. Well most managed to make the stable block and close the door behind them, a few of us where too far away and to my utter amazement everyone took shelter behind me! (I'm not that big honest!).

I knew then that my time must surely have come as the dog headed straight for me, eyeing me with utter menace. I decided to prepare myself for pain and that he would go for my legs first. As he drew nearer I automatically place my hands down to protect my legs, my fingers where stretch outwards as I awaited the onslaught. I knew real fear as that dog came upto me and I felt my fingers enter his mouth. Then before he closed his mouth on my fingers he look me straight in the eye and backed off! seconds later the owner came out of her shock and call him back.

All this happened in seconds, and the owner said that she had called the dog back before he got to me, but I know she didn't as my fingers had entered his mouth and he did back off before she called him. I was extremely grateful for that Divine Intervention.

Afterwards I was teased about shaking and all I could reply was that if they had been the ones facing that dog they too would be shaking!
