Taking Care of your Crystals
Guidelines for cleansing and recharging crystals
There are many different ways to cleanse and re-charge crystals, the one you choose is for you to decided there are no set rules other than those set by the material of the crystal and the crystals themselves. On the material aspect I have tried to list some 'don't' for certain crystals (by no means comprehensive). The crystals themselves will often tell you what they require:
Cleansing your Crystals
1) Fully submerge the crystal in a glass of pure sea water or water with half a teaspoon of sea salt per pint of water and leave minimum 36 hours or until you feel the crystal is cleansed.
2) Take your crystals down to the sea and allow the water to lap over them and then leave in the sun - therefore not only cleansing but re-charging too.
3) Place under running water (tap water if necessary) for a few minutes to 'run out' the negative energies and then recharge in the sun and moon for 24 hours - does not have to be full moon but a full moon will give extra energies.
4) Place the crystal outside in the rain and leave for 24hours
5) Place crystals on an Amethyst druze (cluster of amethyst, about the size of your hand) or in a large geode (amethyst cave). Leave until you feel they have been cleansed.
6) Smudging crystals - passing the crystals through the smoke from incense or sage grass
7) Meditating on the crystal - Hold the crystal in your hand, visualise a clean clear, fresh and unpolluted place i.e. by a stream, the sea or a lake or somewhere you feel comfortable and safe, this has the effect of cleansing the crystal or crystals that are in your immediate environment.
8) Bury the crystal in the soil - garden or window box - and leave undisturbed for however long you feel.
9) Using the Breath - Take a moment to attune yourself and be 'centred' by thinking of your crown chakra (top of your head). Imagine a flame like candle flame there, then using your imagination, bring the flame down into your mouth and breathe out, exhaling sharply and emphatically onto the crystal and mentally affirm that you are cleansing the crystal with whatever words you wish to use or that come to you.
10) Soak the crystal in flowers (rose petals, orange blossom, honeysuckle, etc) for 24 hours. The essence strips away negativity and cleanses the crystal with the purity and energy of the flower is transmitted.
Crystals should be cleansed and recharged when they first come to you - thereafter when you feel they need it or when they tell you - You will know.
